Computing

Background

Through successful grant applications the Village Hall has obtained equipment and a broadband connection. We have six laptop computers along with ancillary equipment which are used to provide computing resources for local residents.

We have fast fibre optic broadband with wifi access throughout the building. Hirers can use this service for a nominal fee,for further information, click any of the links below (all of the links require Adobe Reader ):

Silver Surfer Training

The Village Hall runs a series of Silver Surfer Training Courses, starting with Absolute Beginners and taking students through the Internet Essentials.  Each course runs for three consecutive Tuesday afternoons from 2-5pm.

The cost of each course is £54 with up to six students, payable 14 days before the beginning of the course (this guarantees a place).

Internet Cafe

Each Friday the Village Hall opens their Internet Cafe from 9am until noon. This is a drop-in cafe where you can bring all your computing problems and get a cup of coffee. We have four very friendly mentors with a combined wealth of experience covering a total of more than 130 years! So whether it's 'how do I download something' to 'help, my computer has stopped working' we will be able to solve it.

If you are experiencing problems on a laptop, tablet or smartphone please bring it in and let us help you. If you have a desktop computer you can of course bring that, although it may not be too easy - in which case, if we can't help you in the Internet Cafe one of our mentors will make a home visit for a small fee.

And we only charge £1 per 30 minutes!
